11 things you should never store in the refrigerator

Hot Sauce
Keep hot sauce in the pantry. It will be good for up to three years.

Potatoes
Refrigeration adversely affects their flavor and shelf life, so store in the pantry in paper bags away from other foods. Avoid storing in plastic bags as they trap moisture and speed up decay.

Bread
While freezing your bread is fine, storing bread in the refrigerator will dry out your bread. Keep what you will eat within 5 days on the counter and freeze the rest.

Onions
Never store onions in the fridge. Onions become soft in the fridge and tend to impart their flavor on other produce. Keep them away from potatoes, which emit moisture and gases that cause onions to rot quickly.

Garlic
It will last up to two months in the pantry. Give it plenty of room so air can move around it.

Tomatoes
They can get soft in the fridge, so leave them on the counter and out of plastic bags. To speed up ripening, store in a paper bag. Once ripe, eat within three days.

Coffee
The fridge can cause condensation, which can adversely affect the flavor of coffee beans. Keep in an airtight container in the pantry.

Honey
Honey does not need refrigeration. When cold, honey is nearly impossible to handle. Just keep it in the pantry and everyone will be happy.

Bananas
Bananas should be kept on the counter in open air. If you put bananas in the fridge, the outside will turn black but the inside is fine.

Melons
Melons should be kept on the counter to achieve best flavor. Once cut, keep in fridge for 3-4 days.

Batteries
Believe it or not, some people believe you should store batteries in the fridge. Extreme heat or extreme cold can diminish the performance of a battery.
